Our History
The location: Northern Hungary, a wild and beautiful Creek-side Valley near the Aggtelek Karst region. Nearly one hundred Hungarian native donkeys — the "Creek-Side Donkeys” — now depend on us for their survival.
My name is György Markovics. I am a small-scale farmer and grassland manager. I have always believed that animals are sentient beings, not tools.
Through an agri-ecological program, I took responsibility for 17 Hungarian native donkeys. At the time, I didn’t know that I would soon have to take care of nearly a hundred lives....
Help Save Nearly 100 Rescued Donkeys in Hungary
I have invested all my savings into their rescue.
I cannot do this alone anymore.
We would like to show that there is an alternative to keeping donkeys as farm animals and using them for meat.
We dream of donkey therapy, school visits, group walks, quiet experiences close to nature... moments when you can stop, breathe, and just be present.
I believe that what one person cannot achieve alone, a committed community can.
